Twenty years of learning to see the whole baby.

The academic path, clinical training, and specialist certifications behind the IENDM™ framework.

Academic Background

Penny holds a BSc in Physiotherapy from the Technological Educational Institute of Lamia and an MSc in Health Policy and Planning from the Open University of Cyprus. Her Master's thesis examined quality of life in children with cerebral palsy in Cyprus — a research focus that reinforced her commitment to outcomes that matter to families and children, not only to clinical measurement systems.

Her postgraduate training in health policy deepened her understanding of how healthcare systems are designed, where they succeed, and where the structural gaps lie — directly informing the IENDM™ framework's design as one that can function within real-world clinical systems, not only under ideal research conditions.

Five Years Building Clinical Curricula

Penny also holds a Certified Vocational Training Instructor (Level 5) qualification in curriculum design and adult learning methodology — and for the past five years, she has put it to work designing and delivering structured training programmes for paediatric physiotherapy assistants: intensive courses of 40 to 80 hours that go well beyond technical skill instruction to address clinical reasoning, professional confidence, and the relational dimensions of paediatric practice.

This work has given her a rare dual perspective: she understands not only what experienced paediatric clinicians know, but what emerging practitioners consistently struggle most to learn. The answer, consistently, is not technique. It is the ability to read the whole clinical picture — to see the infant as an integrated system and to make clinical decisions that account for movement, regulation, and relationship simultaneously.

"The clinicians I train are technically competent. What they consistently lack is a framework that tells them how to think about what they are seeing — how to integrate the movement findings with the regulatory picture and the family context. IENDM™ is that framework. It is what I wish I had had on my first day in a paediatric clinic."

Specialist Certifications

Each of the following certifications brought Penny into contact with a different framework for understanding the developing nervous system. Placed alongside one another, they revealed the gaps that no single framework could fill on its own — and IENDM™ is, in part, the synthesis of what each contributed.

CertificationContribution to IENDM™
Neurodevelopmental Treatment (Bobath)Foundational neuromotor handling, facilitation, and tone assessment principles
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)Postural facilitation, movement sequencing, and neuromuscular integration
Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT)Motor learning and neuroplasticity principles applied to functional movement
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)Functional movement within gravitational context; progressive postural challenge
Infant Massage InstructorTactile regulation, caregiver–infant attunement, and sensory processing in early infancy
Bayley III Neurodevelopmental AssessmentStandardised developmental measurement and milestone interpretation
Functional Foot Orthoses PrescriptionBiomechanical alignment and lower limb contribution to the postural base
Bowen TechniqueGentle soft-tissue and fascial release, supporting nervous system down-regulation
Craniosacral Therapy for Infants and BabiesGentle structural and nervous system regulation techniques for the youngest infants

Today

Today, Penny runs her paediatric clinic, ANOUAR Physiotherapy & Health Sciences, in Paphos, Cyprus, and is building a global education platform through the IENDM™ Institute. Her training programmes now reach well beyond her own team — PTAs, physiotherapists, nurses, doulas, midwives, and other healthcare providers all train in the IENDM™ approach.

Closest to her heart is the IENDM™ Parents School — a hybrid programme for expectant parents and parents of babies 0–6 months, built to put the same framework directly into families' hands from the very start.
